Sweet Day 16 – Rested and Raring to GO!!

May 14, 2008 by spachickp90x

Not only is eating well important.

But so is rest.

I probably don’t do very well with YogaX because I am not resting well before that workout.

I got plenty of sleep last night and totally BRUNG IT!!! with Arms and Shoulders today. I feel a real good sore after that.  And I managed to walk 2 miles after that. Still have energy too but I’m going to bed early tonight so I can REALLY do Poly tomorrow.

I’m really mixing it up this week because I am on the road this week and didn’t feel like lugging any weights with me. So Poly tomorrow morning and the next day chest and back.

I had this strange dream last night that I got REALLY skinny and my arms were really gaunt. Didn’t like it but I’m working towards health!

Wish me luck!

Day 15 – Still Hate Yoga X – But I’m glad it’s over for this week.

May 12, 2008 by spachickp90x

I’ve gotta track this but I think every morning that I have to do Yoga X, I don’t sleep very well the night before because I am just dreading it.

I absolutely hate it. However I won’t stop!

Tony says in his opening words of encouragement “Yoga will show you your weak spots”.

And it is sooo true! My arms are so weak  – but one day they will be STRONG. My balance is so off – but one day I will have BALANCE. And my FLEXIBILITY is improving every day!

I’m reading a lot of posts saying that weight loss is not apparent in the first month.  I am so happy that I am not weighing myself. It would probably have a negative psychological impact on me. Probably, would do me in. But his time, I am watching the improvements on my measurements.

That is my main goal anyway. I want a waist below 35″. I know I can get there. It is just going to take a lot of work.

Wish me luck!

Day 14 – How did I EVER do straight up boring treadmill for 30 minutes?

May 11, 2008 by spachickp90x

Hey Folks,

Just finished Legs and Back on P90X for a completion of week 2. Or so I thought?

I forgot to do Ab Ripper. I just ate dinner so I’ll do that after I digest a bite.

Well, two weeks completed (almost) – feel still good. My diet totally changed because I am only eating 1 fruit and 1 carb. There goes everything that I’ve been taught about having a fruit at every meal!

But other than that – the transition has been okay.  I eat pretty good anyway. The hour long workouts, I thought would be tough because I only do 30 maybe 40 minutes. But the minutes do go by quickly. Except Yoga.

I hate Yoga. I’m trying to stay strong, but my arms are just so weak. All those downward dogs. Hate em. I hope to get stronger. I try to set goals so that I’m left braining it – but it’s tough.

OVerall, I love the variety, I love that the exercises are different than I’ve ever tried before. And it’s not as tough as people say.

I gotta wonder how I just did straight up treadmill all this time.

10 days in and still smiling

May 8, 2008 by spachickp90x

It’s Wednesday night.

The night before I do arms with the weights I “borrowed” from WallyMaaart. I’m in New Hampshire so I love it when they stretch out the aaarrrs. Too funny but I love it too.

I’m really happy with the P90X program. I love exercising for 1 hour because there is no farting around. When you exercise for  30 minutes and you fart around, then I would normally get in probably about 20 minutes of real exercise. However, with P90x, if you fart around or if you not focused, then you would get about 30 -40 minutes in which is far healthier.

You cannot help but sweat though because you keep changing moves every few seconds or you are trying to meet a goal. So you are more left brain thinking “okay what do I have to do next” or “am I doing it right” rather than right brain thinking “ohhh I’m getting tired”. You are too busy thinking to start thinking about being tired. But you work up a sweat. That symbolizes to me that I’m really bringing it.

I went to Burlington Coat Factory and got a new suit. My old size was 14 now I am a 12. It just wasn’t P90X though it was also from before. But I thought since I’ve done 10 days and it was a really nice suit (that’s hard to find for me) that I deserved it.

Wish me luck!

Day 4 – Eating More and Feeling Stronger

May 2, 2008 by spachickp90x

So far I feel really good about completing the exercises this week. I found the Yoga really challenging because I don’t have the strongest of arms. So all those Downward Dogs in the beginning were driving me crazy!

I’ve also decided to eat more. I think I was eating too little because of what they say you need to eat but I just decided to eat more healthier foods and I feel much better.

I think what really inspires me to do this is to see if I can and what the results will be in 90 days.

Wish me luck!

Day 2 of P90X – Poly – Got My Sweat On

April 30, 2008 by spachickp90x

This was the workout that I needed.

I got up this morning. Dusted off my runners. I feel sorry for the people below my hotel room because I was just jumping all over the place.

I’ve been feeling lately with my regular exercise routine that I am sweating hard enough.

Well this one did it. My heart rate went up to 178 so I had to slow it down.

I liked Poly because of the variety. Next week I am really going to bring it with all the exercises now that  I am learning the moves.

As far as the hunger side of things. It’s amazing, when I am dieting I notice food

more. All the food I cannot eat. But I had control today.

I was listening to a Podcast on the way up and they put it all in perspective for me. If I have an extra bite of something let’s say an extra cookie with 100 calories – and you know it’ s way more than that. Count that up over a month and that could be 3000 calories – 1 whole pound. So exercising at my regular intensity ain’t gonna make it drop off. I’ve gotta exercise more. Which I hate, so I have to forgo the tempation

I’m not too hungry today, had loads of energy.  I hope I can keep up energy side.

Holla at you later,

Spa

I’m starving….

April 29, 2008 by spachickp90x

Okay, I’m not getting the diet. I’ve been starving all day.

So my diet is supposed to consist of 7 protein, 3 dairy, 4 veg, 1 fat, 2 snacks, 1 fruit.

Preworkout meal
1/2 banana

So I had for Breakfast -
1 – 3oz hamburger Extra Lean patty
2 strips of turkey bacon
1 cheese
the other 1/2 banana.

So the above takes care of 2 protein, 1 dairy, 1 fruit – approx 250 calories – way too low
===========================================
Snack
1 breakfast bar – 140 – 10 grams of Protein

Lunch
Pasta
Veg
Cheese
Veg Soup w/Beef

So the above takes care of 2 protein, 2 veg, 1 dairy, 1 snack, 1 carb- approx 450 calories

====================================

Dinner
Veg Soup
1 lean burger (same as b-fast)
cheese

Yogurt
= so that takes care 1 veg, 1 protein, 1 dairy. approx 200 calories – too low.
=============================================

So the tally = 5 protein, 3 dairy, 3 veg, 2 snacks, 1 fruit
about 900 calories. Waaaay to low for the day. No wonder I am hungry.
So I need more protein and 1 more veg, Where the heck can I put it and what can I eat while I’m on the road?
I used to be so creative with meals but now I am really going to have think about what I am going to do when I am on the road. Some places don’t have a fridge nor microwave. People say this is do-able on the road and I believe it can be. I didn’t realize how much carbs I was eating. And now that I have to take it out, I guess that is where my creativity is lacking.
Any suggestions.

P90X – Can I Really Do This?

April 29, 2008 by spachickp90x

Okay I had trouble sleeping.
I was a little worried about doing the first workout.
I have heard horror stories. “It’s tough”, “I puked”.
Well, I guess if you don’t workout, you will find it difficult. I found it challenging.
You better like pushups -that’s all I’ve gotta say.
I was a little surprised that it wasn’t as structured as most exercise DVDs.
The ones I’ve seen tell you how many more reps you have to go. Tony Horton allows you to set your own and write them down. But I ask, should I be setting my own reps? My mind will “take me out” well before my body will. Thus the reason why I use exercise DVDs. I’m used to structure. However, I am not the pro. I am going to go thru the process and see what happens.
I am going to set goals for myself though each week and really kick it up a notch and add more weights.
I’m just taking it one day at a time!
Wish me luck!

Yes I can!!!
